Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have a question, chances are its been put below. If not, feel free to email us and we'll do our best to answer them!
We can accommodate different size projects under our storage policy.
Makers of all ages are welcome at make717, but Mini-Makers (those under 18 years old) need to be accompanied by an adult maker for the entirety of their time at the makerspace.
Is there a long term commitment to membership? We try to keep our Equipment page up to date, but not everything is on that list. If you aren't sure ask by emailing info@make717.org. If we don't have it we might add it to our wish list for the future!
How do I change my membership level? No. There is no long term commitment to membership. Maker memberships are billed monthly and we are simply asking you to commit to the month you are in.
What are your hours of operation? At any point you can change your membership from a monthly Maker membership to our free Social Maker membership level. To do so visit the profile section of the website. If you are looking to change from a Family membership, email membership@make717.org.
Hours of operation are listed at the bottom of every web page. This for "primetime" access, those using a monthly membership or the library STEMPass access card. These are hours volunteer staffed by a "Maker In Charge" who can answer questions as you explore. Once you get familiar with the space and our volunteers get familiar with you, you can apply for 24/7 access to the makerspace.
Hours of operation also enforce a "Last Entry Rule": General front door badge access will be turned off 30 minutes before closing time (at 8:30 PM Monday–Saturday, and 4:30 PM on Sundays). If you are a non-24/7 member, please make sure you are already inside the building by this time and actively wrapping up your projects so everyone can exit smoothly at closing.
Do you offer 24/7 access to the makerspace?
Yes. We require that you have a monthly maker membership and have visited the makerspace frequently during primetime hours. Once you get to know us, and we get to know you, and you get to know your way around make717 and it's policies and procedures you can then apply for 24/7 by completing the application online.
