Wood Shop Overview

General Familiarization and Rules of the Road

  • No pressure treated wood (can be really wet and release nasty chemicals into the wood shop that we want to avoid)
  • Bring your own router bits
  • Use shops vacs liberally & clean up after yourself when done
  • It's the responsibility of the members to empty the shop vac canisters if needed
  • Empty the trash if it gets full
  • No cutting metal in the wood shop
  • Don't cut nail-embedded embedded wood with any of the large power tools
    • You can use hand tools like a reciprocating saw (Sawzall) with an appropriate blade for this if needed
  • If you're new to woodworking, feel free to ask people, but also get on YouTube and investigate how to use these tools in more detail!

Allowed Materials

  • Plastics are generally fine
  • Any kind of wood is fine except pressure treated lumber
