Tormach Workshop #1 (Soft Jaws)

This is the first of four workshops required to be a qualified Tormach user. The total cost of all four workshops is $500. Class size is limited to four persons. Please make sure you are available for all sessions prior to registering.

Participants completing this workshop will keep the soft-jaws they make, and will receive a new end mill. Both of these items can be used on the machine once qualified.

Prerequisites

1. You must be certified to use the manual machine tools either by having completed the Manual Machining Workshop, or test by completed practical. 

2. You must be certified to use the Carvey.

Workshop 1 syllabus

Session 1.1 (classroom): overview of machine specifications, introduction to resources, and make717’s procedures for this machine.

Session 1.2 (machine): machine a set of 4” soft jaws that can be used with the vises in the Tormach.

The classroom session will be taught by Kyle Hossler and the machining session by Mike Ireland.
